Be careful of SuperTrapp as they will try to screw you on warranty return shipping. The following is my correspondence with SuperTrapp concerning my claim.
My first email to SuperTrapp:
right side muffler mount tabs should be 10.5 inch on center.... the muffler body that I have they are 10 3/8 on center so I can not get the second bolt in... the left side is okay at a 10.5 center. I purchased these mufflers from http://www.shopv-twincycles.com on 12-17-07 and received them on 1-4-2008. they appear to have been manufactured on
9-20-06. Upon receipt of the mufflers I was short the two cap screws to hold the fishtails and it took me a month going through v-twincycles.com to get the screws from you. So what happens now... I have these mounted as I ride the bike daily but the right muffler is only being held on with one bolt... This is unacceptable I need your help... MG

I ask a simple question
Will I be reimbursed for shipping costs ???
SuperTrapp responds
No, however I can send a call tag if you would like.
I ask
What is a call tag ?
SuperTrapp responds
I contact FedEx with our account info and ask them to pick up a package at your location.
My response
Why didn't you offer to have them picked up by FedEx on a call tag as a
first option ??? Don't bother.... I need the bike running even if I have to
have one muffler held on with only one bolt.... When time allows I'll take a
dremel tool and oblong the bolt hole... You guys really should look into
quality control as there were other issues with these mufflers which I had
to correct... I had to drill all the baffles a 32nd over to get the bolts
to line up with the mount plate on the baffle. Then I had to take a file to
the bolt hole on the muffler body for the fishtail caps (both of them) as
they did not line up either... Thanks, but no thanks
I'm still waiting for SuperTrapp to respond...

The joy of having a blog.... is that I get to tell the world about good and bad, products, ideas and people. Today my rant will be about mufflers, SuperTrapp mufflers to be precise. They should be called SuperShit mufflers if you ask me. In my fifty odd years on this earth I have worked on many cars, trucks, airplanes and motorcycles. Put on replacement OEM parts and lots of aftermarket parts. In all those years I have never ever run across such poorly made shit. Out of a total of 12 holes that need to line up for attachment purposes only 2 were in the proper alignment.
At first I was willing to overlook this and get out the round file and make the hole a tad larger to allow the bolt to align with the fixed in place nut. I had to drill all the baffles a 32nd over to get those to fit, not a problem, a minor modification. Just stack them up clamp them down and let the drill press do the work. the second misalignment was the fishtail caps, the hole in the muffler body was out of line with the caps perhaps a 32nd of an inch. Again no problem, take the round file and with a few strokes the hole became oblong and the hole lined up with the fixed nut. The third issue was the bushing they supply for mounting the muffler to the support bracket on the bike, it was too long. Again not a real problem just space it out with four washers. Then we come to the straw that broke the proverbial camels back. the muffler on the right side. The inner baffle was too long and not allowing the muffler to slide on the header pipe enough to allow the mounting holes to line up, they are off by almost 1/4 of an inch.
So what are my options now, cut my header pipe, I don't think so. Remove the baffle and cut it off, I don't think so, that would be assuming that I can even get it out. Send them back to the retailer and hopefully get my money back... After thinking about it, I think for $500.00 they should fit without major modification which shortening the baffle would be. Monday they are going back to the retailer. Then I'm going to write a nasty gram to SuperTrapp and give them twice as much as I've given them here...
Stay away from SuperTrapp Mufflers, they are junk...

Finally the weather has begun to change towards spring conditions here in N. California. Most of the shrubs around the house have new buds ready to burst into blossom.
I've got a new set of SuperTrapp muffles here in the garage and I believe it is about time to get them mounted and tuned for maximum performance.
Rufus is a little confused now that Goldy is gone. Not sure of his place anymore. I don't think he knows how the be the top dog as he used to look to Goldy for leadership. I truly believe he misses her as much as my wife and I do.
We lost our beloved Goldy today...
We will miss her very much...
